Discovery Pulse Blog

EBSCO has created the Discovery Pulse Blog to promote usage of the firm's data discovery tools. Discovery tools conduct a metasearch of multiple types of data resources held by an institution, providing a uniform query and report interface. Very popular with students, but currently the results are not as precise as using the search options of most stand-alone products.

QR Codes

Meredith Farkas discusses the value of QR codes to help library users discover electronic resources.

The problem with such device-centered technology is that a code that links to a database is, to the naked eye, indistinguishable from a code that leads to a security threat. Farkas calls QR codes a "stop gap solution" (para. 6), and I would be hesitant to spend much time deploying this technology.
