Birth Order and Child Psychology

Lynn Berger investigated the theory that birth order has a major influence on child psychology and behavior. Over a century ago, Francis Galton and Alfred Adler posited that the eldest child tended to be a leader or innovator. Recent research indicates that the greater influence of first born childrern is probably due to the lingering effects of primogeniture on the parents' and grandparent's allocation of resources toward educating the eldest child.
