Eurekster

Eurekster.com is a nifty new search tool with special utility for bloggers and association web pages. Eurekster seems to provide ample targeted results, and registered users can have their usage tracked so that the results can be even more targeted. Google is now offering a "My Search History" feature for its registered users, so it will be interesting to see how the market impacts Eurekster.

"What is truth?"

Anick Jesdanun wrote an interesting article titled "When information access is so easy, truth can be elusive." This opinion piece, which was published by Technology Review.Com on December 8, 2004, discussed how university students do not bother to check multiple sources when they prepare class research papers. Jesdanun notes that even faculty can attach unwarranted authority to a seemingly well constructed web site, with the example of one professor being duped by a hoax.
The best way to avoid embarassment is to gain a breadth of knowledge about a topic or issue before you pick up your pen (or open your laptop) to write about it.
