Google Indexes Social Networking

Google has indexed major social networking sites in nineteen languages, according to a Computerworld article by Juan Carlos Perez. I suspect this will eventually be subjected to a patent lawsuit, such as the one that Google and Microsoft are facing over instant search.

Mobile Web Technologies or Mobile Apps?

Tomi Ahonen wrote an insightful article on the "Full Analysis of iPhone Economics - It's Bad News. And Then It Gets Worse." The thrust of the article is that hiring someone to develop an iPhone app typically costs $30,000, but the vast majority of mobile users do not have iPhones. He recommends the companies spend a tenth the money and develop mobile websites or SMS campaigns for distributing mobile advertising or information -- strategies that will reach all smartphones and the majority of feature phones with one effort.
