MS-DOS

On December 6, Steven Vaughan-Nichols announced that the Windows command line (which dates back to MS-DOS) was no longer going to be available in Microsoft Windows. Three days later he announced a retraction, observing that the MS-DOS command shell will continue to be available in Windows.

Living Without a GUI

Bryan Lunduke found living without a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to be intolerable after ten days, because our user experience is now so visual. He shared software, some with roots in the 1980's, which provided a form of user experience, but it was extremely cumbersome to command the computer using only text.
