Search Quality Rating

Search Engine Land reports that Google has contracted with an international group of about 10,000 "Search Quality Raters" "Search Quality Raters " who evaluate the initial search results on various topics.

Google maintains a set of Guidelines which is perhaps 200 pages in length. This provides a standard for these evaluations. George Nguyen reports on Jennifer Slegg's presentation summarizing the basic concepts behind these guidelines. Marie Haynes gave a video presentation on quality rating for SEOs.

Annalee Newitz notes that Google contracts with a couple employment agencies to provide quality raters - they are not Google employees.
