Obesity
David Berreby suggests that blaming individuals for obesity is wrong in an era when food produces and processors are adding chemicals into the food chain which may produce obesity. These chemicals in some cases even affect the reproductive cells (eggs and sperm)impacting at least one additional generation with epigenetic weight gain.
Olga Khazan cites a study indicating that children raised on today's diet have a harder time avoiding weight gain, again suggesting an influence from food chemicals.
