Educational Advantage
Fernanda Zamudio-Suaréz notes that a college education results in more wealth to a student whose family is wealthy .
My guess is that wealthy students have better preparation for college, and thus have more time for the extracurricular activities that forge a social network which lasts beyond college. While those with less preparation, or those who need to study to maintain the "free ride scholarship" are struggling just to complete the academic program. The best solution might be for a university to "adopt" a few schools in a struggling public school district, and work to give their students an excellent education, so that the college-bound graduates would have a level playing entering college.
