Food Expiry Dates and Food Waste

Jill Roberts explains the confusion about food expiration dates . She cites a USDA study by Buzby, Wells and Hyman which reports that 31% of U.S. foodstuff is wasted (2014, p. 12, Table 1). This happens in part due to conservative expiry dates.
