Computer Gaming and Bible Memorization
Emma Pettit reports on the University of Akron closing 80 academic programs and investing in "the largest amount of dedicated esports space of any university in the world to date."
I have not considered all of the merits of universities investing in computer gaming as a sporting event. However, I do think that Christian universities considering investing in esports should pause, and consider first establishing leagues and teams for competing in Bible memorization. Equipping students in applying Scripture is key to the mission of most Christian universities, and alumni dollars and other gifts may be available for efforts at spurring memorization.
