AdWords Match Types

Dianna Huff shows how to advertise using Google AdWords so that your advertisement draws those with an interest in your product.

  • Broad match, the default search type, displays an advertisement to those using words related to your product. A large percent of those viewing the advertisement will have no interest in the product, but this form of advertising is great for getting new customers who have never heard of your product.
  • Phrase march requires that individual words which occur in a specific phrase linked to your product be in the search.
  • Exact match requires that the search phrase exactly match a phrase in the advertising content.
